I like the girl’s fluffy hair is like mine. Well... I think I am drawing myself there! I will make a big one soon!
I have been learning to draw with limited colour palettes in traditional way. It seems less colours were used but it does not mean easier. I need to plan ahead the colour combinations, especially for the white areas. The biggest challenge of painting on paper (not on the tablet) is there is no "undo" button, the white has to be unpainted, if I made a wrong decision I have to repaint the whole piece. This piece was just my quick study so it is just fine if I made a mistake. Sometime I like the improvisation from my sketch, I see some surprises there!
After working with digital media for some time, it is so much fun to stretch my head to go back to traditional media. I love taking the challenge!
Work in progress: A Little Suspicious Fish 🤨
Just a quick flip of my art I did a while ago, enjoy~ :)
I picked up my brush and paper and acrylic paint recently. After working so long with computer, painting with brush becomes a very different creative process. I almost need two different brains working with both tools. The major difference in between computer and brush painting is no "undo" button. Paint on paper / canvas also does not have separate "layer" as working with Illustrator or Photoshop, so I have to have plan in my head what to paint first and what goes later.
It took me a short while to switch my mind set, but I love it once I picked it up, then I am hard to put down my brush and go back to my computer. I have to say I love both, they are just giving me more options in creating. If you have been making art with one tool only, I encourage you to try one more. It will take you to next new level of creativity.
I have done a few series of painting with acrylic, then took good quality photography, and touch up my art digitally. Below is one of my series called "Cactus in Bloom". If you like to see more, please go to HERE.
In order to pursue to do more exhibitions in the future, I decided to reserve every Friday to paint. I need to include painting on my weekly agenda or I will never have time to do so. This is what I did today. Can't wait to paint more next week!
